Day 1
Goals: Learn the letter I. Be able to recognize it on the paper. Be able to say at least one thing that starts with the letter I.Color sheets: Capital Letter "I", Lowercase "i", Ii is for Ice, Ii is for Iguana, Insects (just pick which one you like)
Craft: Igloo
Directions: Ideally you would use sugar cubes, but our store did not have them so we used large marshmallows, some white and some shaped like hearts. After we had finished ours I found the link I attached to this project. Arrange them on a plate and them glue them together Talk about the letter I, what an igloo is and who lives in them:
Song: I says "i" (same tune. See this post and watch video for melody.)
Shapes: Ovals (goes with making an igloo. Talk about how the shape of the igloo is an oval)
Day 2
Goals: Recall the sound "I" makes. Find "I" on papers.
Color Sheets: Sesame Street "I", Ii is for ice cream, Ii is for igloo
Tracing Skills Sheet: Diagonal Lines
These will be repeats for a little bit. Kids need to do the same movemement over and over again to build the skills needed to write.
Computer Skills: Starfall "I", Bembo's Zoo (choose the letter I)
Snack/Lunch: Ice cream in a bag!
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 cup milk or half & half
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 6 tablespoons rock salt
- 1 pint-size plastic food storage bag (e.g., Ziploc)
- 1 gallon-size plastic food storage bag
- Ice cubes
Directions:
- Fill the large bag half full of ice, and add the rock salt. Seal the bag.
- Put milk, vanilla, and sugar into the small bag, and seal it.
- Place the small bag inside the large one, and seal it again carefully.
- Shake until the mixture is ice cream, which takes about 5 minutes.
- Wipe off the top of the small bag, then open it carefully. Enjoy!
Color Green Sheet - Look for the iguana and write the letter I next to it.
