The Letter H

Day 1

Goals: Learn the letter H. Be able to recognize it on the paper. Be able to say at least one thing that starts with the letter H.

Color sheets: Capital Letter "H", Lowercase "h", Hh is for Heart, Hh is for Horse, Hippos

Craft: Hippo Toilet Paper Roll Craft
Directions: Print out template.  Color/paint, cut out, and glue to toilet paper roll.

Song: H says "huh" (same tune.  See this post and watch video for melody.)

Shapes:  Squares (search and find)

Directions:  Help your child trace the square/rectangle (or if they are old enough let them trace it) and color it.  Take a walk with your child with you camera and have you child take pictures of things in the shape of a square.  If your child is anything like mine they will LOVE being able to take the pictures and who doesn't like a finding game?

Day 2
Goals: Recall the sound "H" makes. Find "H" on papers.

Color Sheets: Sesame Street "H", Hh is for Hippo, Hedgehogs, Horse

Tracing Skills Sheet: Diagonal Lines
These will be repeats for a little bit.  Kids need to do the same movemement over and over again to build the skills needed to write.

Computer Skills: Starfall "H", Bembo's Zoo (choose the letter H)

GameHopscotch
There are a couple of ways to play this, but basically you draw your board and then toss an object onto one of the squares.  The square that it lands on you skip.  To play this with younger kids, have them call out the number the thrown object lands on.  It will help reinforce numbers recognition as well as play.

Snack/Lunch: Hot dog!

Day 3 (Just doing school 2 days a week? Add this to day 2)
Goal: Learn the color Orange, Reinforce the Letter H

Color Orange Sheet

Scissor Skills: Straight Line Balloons
This also helps with fine motor skills. Plus your child needs to learn how to use scissors the correct way before going to school.

Ashley, We are doing preschool with Bella and two of her friends once a week. The other two moms and I take turns once a week and then we follow up on a different day by ourselves. The girls are loving it and learning so much. We love this blog. It is so helpful! Pictures to come...
