The Letter E

Day 1
Goals: Learn the letter E. Be able to recognize it on the paper. Be able to say at least one thing that starts with the letter E.

Suggestions: Print this on the card stock and let you child paint the pieces. Do not cut out until they have been painted and are dry.
Supplies: brown paper bag, card stock, paints/crayons/markers (it's up to you), glue, scissors

Song: E says "eh".

Game: Egg Hunt
Supplies: Easter Eggs, paper
Instructions: Write "e" and "E" on a small piece of paper. Place 1 piece in each egg (the number of eggs depends on you). Hide the eggs (inside or outside) and have your child go on an egg hunt. Once your child has collected all of the eggs, have them open them and tell you if the letter is a capital "E" or a lower case "e".

Day 2
Goals: Recall the sound "E" makes. Find "E" on papers. Sing song.

Color Sheets: E Sesame Street Letter, Ee is for Egg, Ee is for Eel
Suggestion: Use a different way to color today. If you used crayons last time use markers or chalk this time. Make sure you sing the song again.

Computer Skills: Starfall "E", Bembo's Zoo (choose the letter E)

Songs: "Do Your Ears Hang Low"

Do your ears hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder
Like a Continental Soldier?
Do your ears hang low?

Snack: Rotten Eggs (also known as hard boiled eggs)
Instructions: Place 6 eggs in a single layer in a large saucepan (do not stack eggs). Add enough cold water to cover the eggs by 1 inch. Bring to a rapid boil over high heat (water will have large rapidly breaking bubbles). Remove from heat, cover, and let stand for 15 minutes; drain. Run cold water over the eggs or place them in ice water until cool enough to handle; drain. To peel a hard-cooked egg, gently tap it on the counter top. Roll the egg between the palms of your hands. Peel off eggshell, starting at the large end.
